For the next four Fridays, starting tonight, we will be posting Old Testament prophecies and the corresponding New Testament scripture describing their fulfillment.
Prophecies
& Fulfillments
Concerning
Christ’s
Death,
Burial, and Resurrection
Part 1
Triumphal
Entry into Jerusalem
on
a Donkey
Prophecy:
Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly,
O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh
unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and
upon a colt the foal of an ass.
Fulfillment:
Matthew 21:1-11 King James
Version (KJV)
21 And when they drew nigh
unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent
Jesus two disciples, Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you,
and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and
bring them unto me. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord
hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. All this was done, that
it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the
daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an
ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. And the disciples went, and did as Jesus
commanded them, And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their
clothes, and they set him thereon. And a very great multitude spread their
garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strew them in
the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying,
Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord;
Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was
moved, saying, Who is this? And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet
of Nazareth of Galilee.

Entered
the Temple with Authority
Prophecy:
Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will
send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom
ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant,
whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.
Fulfillment:
John 2:13-22 And the Jews' Passover
was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And found in the temple those that
sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he
had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the
sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the
tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not
my Father's house an house of merchandise. And his disciples remembered that it
was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. Then answered the Jews
and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these
things? Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three
days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this
temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the
temple of his body. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples
remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture,
and the word which Jesus had said.

REJECTED
BY JEWISH RELIGIOUS LEADERS
Prophecy:
Psalm 118:22 The stone which
the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
Fulfillment:
Matthew 21:42 Jesus saith unto
them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders
rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing,
and it is marvellous in our eyes?
John 7:48 Have any of the
rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?
PLOTS
BY JEWS AND GENTILES TOGETHER
Prophecy:
Psalm 2:1-2 Why do the heathen
rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set
themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against
his anointed. . .
Fulfillment:
Acts 4:27 For of a truth
against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius
Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together. .
